Petrolink International Empowers Oil and Gas Industry with PetroVault™
HOUSTON, May 12th, 2023 – Petrolink, a global leader in Energy Industry data solutions, proudly announced the launch […]
The Open Group Summit Houston 2025 brought together global leaders from the energy and technology sectors to discuss the next wave of digital transformation, and our journey from data standardization to AI enablement. Petrolink was proud to be part of this important dialogue, showcasing how our ‘From Wellsite to Insight’ approach is helping operators unlock the full potential of legacy data, streamline workflows, and accelerate their journey toward AI-ready operations.
One of the highlights of the week was a joint presentation by Equinor, Halliburton, and Petrolink demonstrating a live use case of the new Data Work Order (DWO) object – a significant addition to the WITSML standard under Energistics.
The DWO defines the data required to support drilling operations, creating a shared understanding between all parties involved. During the presentation, the three organizations showcased how a data work order could be created in one system, shared across platforms, and replicated across multiple systems – simplifying workflows around data setup, transmission, and quality evaluation.
This collaborative effort represents a major step forward in data interoperability and operational efficiency. The community will now focus on extending this work into real-world operations and exploring how DWO information can be integrated with OSDU as the system of record.
A key moment of pride for the Petrolink team came when David Johnson, Digital Solutions Principal, received the Best Collaborative Project and Cross-Forum Work Award. David has been an active contributor for many years within both Energistics and OSDU, playing a pivotal role in the development and alignment of the WITSML, RESQML, and PRODML standards and their integration into OSDU.
Petrolink also supported the ODD project presentation led by Equinor, where our team contributed as consultants. This work underscores our commitment to supporting operators in advancing open data initiatives while respecting confidentiality and collaboration boundaries. These engagements highlight Petrolink’s deep involvement across multiple industry initiatives – helping bridge the gap between legacy data systems, modern standards, and OSDU workflows.
Community, Conversations, and Connections
Beyond the presentations, the Petrolink booth was a vibrant hub of discussion, collaboration, and innovation-sharing. Manned by Mike Sturm, Peter Gonzalez, Prashant Menon and David Johnson, the team welcomed attendees from across the energy and technology spectrum to exchange ideas and explore real-world data solutions.
The booth really stood out this year – with new Petrolink stickers, branded stress balls, and raffle giveaways enthusiastically received by visitors. Attendees appreciated not only the interactive displays but also the opportunity to learn firsthand how Petrolink’s ‘From Wellsite to Insight’ approach is transforming energy data management.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Booth 10 to explore how Petrolink’s solutions are transforming legacy tables into OSDU-ready data, driving up to 500% ROI, and enabling AI-ready operations across global energy teams.
Looking Ahead
As the sSummit wraps up, one thing is clear – the energy industry’s digital future depends on open standards, collaboration, and high-quality data. Petrolink remains committed to empowering operators to connect, standardize, and activate their data – delivering clarity from the wellsite to insight.
